Water Update & Other News

With the arrival of April and the nice weather, the water start-up process has been initiated.  During this start-up process no one should take any action to utilize the water pipes.   Do not touch any water caps.   Do not open any lines.   It is important for a streamlined process as well as the safety of all, to maintain the water pressure and not be exposed to the chemicals in the lines.

In fact, DEP guidance is that no one should be occupying the grounds during the start-up process.   For this reason we ask you to refrain from spending time on the grove while this is underway.    This point is documented in Section V Cottage Occupancy of the Handbook & Policies point 1.c:

‘No occupancy approvals will be granted during the mandated water testing time period, defined by the period of time when water is in the pipes, but not yet approved by the DEP for use.’

Also please note point 1.d:

‘Any fines rendered by the DEP due to occupancy during the off season will be the responsibility of the violating cottage holder(s).

Please pass along this message to all family members which may not be on this email distribution, but do utilize the Patterson Grove grounds or your cottage.

Our hope that if all guidances are followed we can have a streamlined start-up and be able to announce an open for occupancy date in approximately 2 weeks.   However if any of our tests result in the DEP directing us to take additional actions, this period of time will be extended.   Please watch your email for an update when our grounds are ready for occupancy.      If any of your questions have not been answered by this email, please feel free to send in these questions via return email.

At present (and dependent on proper water approvals), we are planning on a Spring Clean-up day on Saturday May 6th.     Please block your calendars!   Our clean-up days are scheduled as a means of the association members coming together to get our grounds ready for the season.

Plan to meet at 8am in the Tabernacle Circle.  A lunch will be served in the boarding hall.

A good deal of effort has been put into the plans for the upcoming season. However we are still have some open positions to fill.  Should you have any leads on individuals that should be considered for any of these roles, please share your thoughts with us.

  • Worship Leader leads (both weeks )
  • Senior Youth Leader/Assistant (Week 1)
  • Children’s Sunday School (all Sundays)
  • Bible Study Leader (Week 1)  — we have some leads, but nothing confirmed yet

Additionally, we are still seeking someone or someones who would be interested in serving the boarding hall meals.  We clearly want to ensure that this traditional offering is still available for our cottageholders and staff.  We are open to all ideas of interested parties to allow this to continue.
